BIRDS FROM HEAD TO TAIL

WRITTEN BY STACEY RODERICK

ILLUSTRATED BY KWANCHAI MORIYA

In this fun informational picture book, children can test their knowledge of birds, one body part at a time. “What bird has eyes like this?” asks one spread with a close-up illustration of the animal’s body part. Turn the page for the answer (“A bald eagle!”), where an illustration of the full bird in its habitat is revealed. An informational paragraph describes the bird’s unique body part and what makes it special. The book features eight birds in all — including the kiwi, blue-footed booby and arctic tern — along with another eight at the end of the book. Striking cut-paper collage illustrations by Kwanchai Moriya make for a visual standout and add to book’s charm and appeal.
